"A Rhythm of Healing"
The Roper St. Francis Concert Series, presented by Roper St. Francis Healthcare at Credit One Stadium, celebrates the power of music and its positive impact on mental health. Music brings people together, and we invite you to share how music improves your mindset.
As part of this year’s Roper St. Francis Concert Series, a mural was commissioned as a visual expression of Music for the Mind. We worked with a local artist to create an art installation of how music, especially when heard in a concert, makes us feel and its ability to unite and heal.
In 2022, Roper St. Francis became the presenting partner of the Concert Series at Credit One Stadium to support and celebrate the positive impact music has on our community. Regardless of genre preference, music brings people together. Music is an outlet and inspires hope. Music is the backdrop to some of life’s most memorable moments, and most of all, music can make people feel better.
“Science has shown that music can have a tremendous benefit to our health,” said Kathy Smith, Roper St. Francis Healthcare vice president and chief marketing and digital officer. “Our investment in the Roper St. Francis Healthcare Concert Series shows how we are continuing to care for our community, just as we’ve done for more than 167 years.”
This year, we’ve forged a partnership with a local artist to collaborate on a mural that embodies music, the Charleston region, mental health awareness, and Roper St. Francis Healthcare's support for a healthy community. The semi-permanent mural will be located on the grounds of Credit One Stadium and can be seen throughout the Concert Series. We encourage you to take and share pictures, and get inspired by whatever feelings or thoughts the mural evokes.
The Roper St. Francis Healthcare Concert Series will play host to many musical guests, including Dave Matthews Band, Chris Stapleton, Counting Crows, and Luke Bryan, to name a few. The concerts take place from May through the end of October at the Credit One Stadium on Daniel Island.
Research shows music therapy can have tremendous benefits for various mental health conditions. It can also act as a calming agent for anxiety. Listening to music, playing music, and writing lyrics are all interactions with music that can help those who may be struggling with depression, trauma, or the loss of a loved one.
Most importantly, music reminds us we are not alone. Please use these resources if you or someone you know is struggling with mental health illness, addiction, or trauma. Someone is always there to listen.
The design of the mural was inspired by the Charleston community and the healing that can come from music.
