Professional Nursing Clinical Ladder
The Professional Nursing Clinical Ladder is a performance-based career advancement program that provides a framework for developing, evaluating, promoting and rewarding RNs who provide direct patient care.
Nurses are hired as Clinical Nurse 1 or Clinical Nurse 2, depending on their nursing experience. Current Roper St. Francis Healthcare nurses who meet eligibility requirements have the opportunity to become a Clinical Nurse 3 or Clinical Nurse 4 (BSN required). An application must be submitted, which includes documentation of:
- Professional Specialty Certification
- Delivery of Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) education topic
- Completion of an EBP or innovation project
- Active involvement in a Roper St. Francis Healthcare Committee or Shared Governance Council
- Additional activities
A differential is paid for the Clinical Nurse 3 and Clinical Nurse 4 levels. The requirements must be met annually to maintain these levels.
